Ever wondered what these actually are? They’re any material derived from the body of an animal, including fat, blood, milk or eggs, and they’re hiding in your everyday skincare products. In perfumes, these ingredients can be just as disturbing. Ambergris, found in whale intestines, is sometimes used as a binding agent. Some musky scents can contain animal secretions from beavers, deer or civets (an animal similar to a cat, which is found in Asia and Africa).
