World Clean and Green Week falls mid-month every September. There is only one Earth, and taking care of the planet and the environment is one of the best things anyone can do for future generations. World Clean and Green Week was established to help encourage everyone to incorporate environmentalism into their daily routines. Making small shifts is the best way to ensure lasting change, so we’ve gathered some simple actions you can do to help our planet become a happier, healthier place to live.
Limit Use of Plastic
Plastic pollution is one of the biggest environmental concerns right now and for good reason. Around 50% of the plastic produced every year is for single-use plastic items (straws, plastic forks, cups, etc), most of which will take hundreds of years to break down. Plastic is also littering our oceans. 8 million tons of plastic end up in the sea every year, killing tons of defenseless animals. Limiting how often you use single-use plastic can help the earth and its animals.
We've worked hard to limit the amount of plastic in our packaging to the bare minimum. The cellophane you’ll find on our packaging? It’s made from corn and is completely biodegradable! Just pop it in your compost bin and let the natural recycling process take place.
Upcycle Chicly
Get creative! Before throwing something away, where it could end up in landfills or oceans, consider whether it can be reused in a different way. For example, CLEAN RESERVE HOME containers can be repurposed as succulent pots, cotton pad vessels or makeup brush storage containers.
Use Your Voice
Speaking up for what we believe in is one of the most important tools we have in the fight to save Mother Nature. Write thank you notes to sustainable companies to encourage them to keep up the good work, and let ones who fall short know you’d like to see a change.
Explore Thrift Stores
Say no to fast fashion and instead shop second hand more often. Head to your local thrift store or your favorite clothing resale app to find gems that will set your style apart from the crowd and help reduce waste.
Find a local cleanup event
No matter where you are, there will always be litter where it doesn't belong in need of being picked up and properly disposed of. Checkout EARTHDAY.ORG or KAB.org for an organized cleanup near you. Can't find anything near you? Get together with your neighbors and clean up your neighborhood. This can include picking up trash, planting flowers, or even painting over graffiti.
Grow Your Own Herbs
Cut your carbon footprint by growing your own herbs! Not only will you be contributing to fewer emissions and packaging waste, you’ll also have a fun hobby for the new year. Mint, found in the boldly revitalizing CLEAN RESERVE Citron Fig, is one of the easiest herbs to start growing.
